FIVE WAYS TO WEAR FALL’S MUST HAVE STAPLE
The blazer is a wardrobe workhorse staple. It can be dressed up or down. Made sexy or prim. It can transform jeans and a t shirt into a sporty fab statement.
For a mom, the blazer’s ability to snappily pull a look together deems it a must have power basic. To showcase the blazer’s versatility, I asked designer Marie Whitney of Two Penny Blue for 5 creative ways to style a blazer this fall.
Look 1: Working mom
Bold Blazer + Silk Pattern Top
“I love layering a bold blazer over a silk top in a fun print and pairing them with a basic black pant with a slimming cut (Theory is my go-to brand). The silk top under a blazer is a modern alternative to the button down look. Joie makes great silk tops for work, the prints are modern, but not juvenile and the fit is flattering especially but not too clingy in the tummy area which is a huge plus for moms.”
Blazer + Jeans + Flats“I love keeping it casual with the kids – Throw your go-to blazer over a striped tee, distressed jeans skinny jeans with stretch for comfort, and a great pair of flats. Add some accessories for extra flair – pile on the bracelets, a bold cuff, add a scarf & sunglasses. And if you didn’t have time to spend on your hair – throw on a leather baseball cap – it’s and completely on trend this season.”
Look 3: Weekend warrior
Blazer + Riding Boots + Scarf
“For weekend it’s back to basics, a great pair of jeans paired with riding boots, a blazer and scarf. Choose dark skinny jeans with a hint of stretch for comfort (and for hiding stains!) paired with classic riding boots.”
Look 4: Dinner w/ friends
Blazer + Leather Pants + Booties
“For a night out with the girls pair a classic, tailored blazer with a pair of leather pants. Complete the look with a pair of booties for a fun twist.”
